A $210 million development in Brisbane will be the first residential project in Australia to use an iris-recognition system.

Iris Australia, the sole distributor and licensee of the security system will install the state of the art digital equipment in The Aurora, a 67 storey development.

Developer APH Properties said iris recognition technology was used in some Australian businesses and government departments but the Aurora would be the first residential project to use the eye scan system.

“We have always considered ourselves forward thinking and progressive developers” APH Properties managing director John Wilson said.

“To be the first developer in the country to use such technology is a real coup.”

Iris recognition technology was first introduced in Australia in 1997.

It is a non-invasive and identifies people by the unique patterns of the iris of their eye.
